Our peaceful Polo school is located 10 minutes from the center of San Antonio de Areco. We offer Polo classes and practice every day of the year. Class times vary, depending on the season, to ensure we take full advantage of the daylight hours.
The one hour classes are given by Ignacio, an Argentinian Polo lover. For beginners, we offer a preliminary 15 minute theoretical session, in which Ignacio explains the rules of the game and the required equipment (that we provide).
You’ll also have the chance to learn and practice some shooting techniques.
You don’t need to know how to ride a horse in order to attend the first class.

Polo practice: Take part in a professional live polo game
For those who have an advanced horse riding skills and who want to enjoy a fast paced polo game of pure adrenaline, some weekend we organize matches of 4 chukkas, with 4-on-4 games. We always try to gather people of similar levels so that the game is more playful and entertaining.

Polo Day Areco & Estancia
If you dream of spending one day at an exclusive Estancia where you can practice Polo or learn the basics in an enchanting environment, we have what you need!
Our package, leaving from Buenos Aires, include a guided tour of San Antonio de Areco as well as an unforgettable stay at the Estancia, entirely dedicated to the practice of Polo. You will be welcomed by the owners of Estancia, two professional Polo players, who will be very happy to share their Polo secrets with you.
8:30 am | Pick-up at your hotel in Buenos Aires.
10 am | You will be welcomed in San Antonio de Areco by your local guide, who will take you on a tour to discover the picturesque streets of this historic town, including the church, pulperías (100 years old gaucho bars) and the Draghi silversmith’s museum. If you wish, you will also have the opportunity to make some purchases of the renowned workshops of our town.
12 noon | Arrive at Estancia La Sofía where you will be welcomed with a delicious asado accompanied by drinks and organic vegetables from the Estancia’s own garden.
3 pm | The afternoon is dedicated to Polo initiation. To start with, there will be a short introductory theory class, followed by a practical class. On the program: atop a wooden horse, Marcos will first teach you the correct movements and postures you’ll need, then he will teach you how to handle the mallet whilst on horseback, on the Polo field. It is what we call in Polo the “Stick & Ball”.
If you are feeling comfortable, you’ll even have the chance to participate in a mini chukker (Polo match) and become a real polista (Polo player)!
You will finish the day with tea and homemade pastries, served in the gallery, overlooking the lovely Polo field.
5 pm | Leave for Buenos Aires.
