Originating from Asia and discovered in India by the British in the 1850s, this equestrian sport quickly conquered Argentina, becoming, like soccer, one of the most popular sports in the country.
The excellence of Argentinean polo is internationally recognized as being linked not only to the quality of the riders and the strength of its horses but also to the Argentine way of riding.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in this noble game!
Whether you’re a novice, amateur or experienced player, we offer different options to fit your needs, on the most beautiful polo fields of the region.
Our package departing from Buenos Aires invites you to enjoy an unforgettable experience in an Estancia entirely dedicated to the practice of polo. You will be welcomed by Andrea, a former professional player, who will personally teach you the technique and secrets of polo.
Program
9 am | Pick-up at your hotel in Buenos Aires.
10 am | Arrival at La Dorada Campo y Polo, located 50 km northwest of Buenos Aires. Welcome reception over coffee and introduction to the place and the day’s program.
10:30 am | Using a wooden horse installed inside a safety cage, your instructor Andrea will teach you the main movements and postures to adopt to hit the ball without injuring the horse. You will learn the different types of swings.
12 noon | Asado lunch: array of grilled meats accompanied by salads with wine, dessert and coffee.
2 pm | After picking up the horses from the paddock, Andrea will explain the different components of a polo horse’s tack, then teach you how to saddle and bridle your own horse.
The afternoon is dedicated to learning and practicing polo on one of Estancia’s fields. This is what we call “stick & ball” practice.
Finally, if you feel comfortable, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in a mini chukker (a 7-minute match) to become a true polo player!
We end the day with cold drinks, coffee or tea, and pastries, served at the edge of the polo field.
5 pm | Departure for Buenos Aires.
Important note: During summer (December, January and February) and to avoid the hottest hours, horse classes will be taught from 4 pm and end at 7 pm, instead of 2 pm to 5 pm.
