This typical Argentinian Estancia, built in 1822, is considered as one of the most beautiful and traditional estancias as far as history, architecture and natural beauty of the surroundings are concerned. The main house was built in the 19th century and the park all around was designed by the French landscape Charles Thays.
The atmosphere of the Estancia takes you back to the times of Ricardo Güiraldes (1886-1927), where the famous author wrote the internationally-acclaimed novel Don Segundo Sombra inspiring from the real gaucho Segundo Raminez. Since then, this Estancia is the perfect place to explore the soul and character of the gaucho.
Classified as Historic Monument for its intact architectural preservation of Argentine criollo style and its wide adobe walls, the estancia did not lose its nobility!
You will find different types of houses, so that they can choose the rooms adapting to the preferences of each guest. It goes back to the gaucho past and the home of Ricardo Güiraldes, enjoying the country life, tranquility and all the comfort and tradition in a distinguished place.
The Casa Grande has four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, comfortable king size or double beds and have a chimney and heater. Don Segundo Sombra, El Cencerro de Cristal, El Sendero, … The guests can choose between the following bedrooms, referring to the works made by the writer Ricardo Güiraldes. As you leave the Casa Grande, you find a gazebo with antique garden furniture from the times of the writer. This is an ideal place to have breakfast.
The Casa Chica was built in 1822 being the oldest house. It includes three bedrooms, one on the first floor and two on the second floor. These spacious rooms feature a king size bed, en suite bathroom and overlook the countryside and century-old trees. You will also appreciate the beautiful veranda and corridors filled with all sort of flowers.
La Porteña is a privileged and timeless place where you will be able to relax and take part in the gauchos’ activities. You will be given the opportunity to visit the main house, bedroom and study of Ricardo Guiraldes called El Rincon del Poeta. You will also have the opportunity to go horseriding accompanied by a professional guide, or just go for a ride in a horse-drawn carriage through the countryside all around.
Campo activities are also organized as demonstrations of gaucho skills; carreras de sortijas (creole ring and horse races), doma india and authentic folkloric guitar. In the park, you can enjoy the facilities such as: swimming pool, soccer, volleyball and Argentinian bowls game.
